President George W. Bush spoke to members of the business community on the nation’s economy at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. He talked about the history of easy credit that led to the current crisis. The president explained the rescue and recovery package and the temporary investment that has been designed to help the economy by giving liquidity to the frozen credit markets while protecting taxpayer money by recouping the temporary equity in the banks after liquidity is restored.
