David Reynolds talked about his book Waking Giant: America in the Age of Jackson (Harper; September 30, 2008). In his account of the years 1815-1848 Mr. Reynolds recounts the early years of capitalism and urbanization as well as the cultural and political changes the country was going through. The guest interviewer was Robert Remini, an author and historian for the U.S. House of Representatives.

David S. Reynolds is a distinguished professor at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York. His books include John Brown, Abolitionist close
