Historian Carlo D’Este discussed the military career of Winston Churchill and followed Churchill’s tenure as a cavalry officer, war correspondent, First Lord of Admiralty during World War I and Secretary of State for War. The author contends that Churchill’s military career played a central role in his life and his later understandings of diplomacy and war during World War II. He answered questions from the audience.

Carlo D’Este is the author of Warlord: A Life of Winston Churchill at War, 1874-1945, published by Harper. He also wrote Eisenhower: A Soldier’s Life published by Holt Paperbacks and Patton: A Genius for War published by Harper. close
