President-Elect Barack Obama and Vice President-Elect Joe Biden made opening remarks at a meeting of the National Governors Association in Congress Hall at Independence Park. They spoke about the challenges of balancing a state budget, the need for infrastructure investment and other economic stimulation, and forging a partnership to design as well as implement an economic recovery plan. In his remarks President-Elect Obama said he hoped to hear from all governors, regardless of potential disagreements, in an effort to find useful solutions to the nations challenges. close
