Senator-Designee Roland Burris spoke to reporters outside the U.S. Capitol about his arrival and attempt to be seated in the U.S. Senate. He said officials had denied him access since he did not have the certification of Illinois officials. He said he would consult with attorneys before taking any further action. His attorneys then answered questions from reporters.

Mr. Burris was appointed by Illinois Governor Blagojevich, who was under investigation for corruption, including trying to “sell” the U.S. Senate seat vacated by President-Elect Obama. close
