Stephen Baker talked about his book, The Numerati (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, 2008), and responded to questions from audience members at the Free Library of Philadelphia. The book is about a group of mathematicians and computer scientists who analyze the millions of bits of information generated by our daily activities to better understand what makes us tick. The goal, he says, is to manipulate our behavior.
