Gholam Reza Afkhami talked about The Life and Times of the Shah, 1919-1980 (Publisher: University of California Press; February 2009). In the book Mr. Afkhami examines the Shah’s rule in the context of the Cold War era and Iran’s geopolitical position. He portrays the Shah as an ordinary man who came to power not by seeking it but by birth. Commentary was provided by John Limbert of the U.S. Naval Academy and Shaul Bakhash of George Mason University.
