Representative Charles Boustany talked about House debate on a bill that expands S-CHIP, the State Children’s Health Insurance Program. He responded to telephone calls and electronic mail. Representative Boustany supports S-CHIP in principle but opposes this bill because he believes it expands S-CPAN too far and that many eligible children are not in it. Representative Boustany submitted an amendment on the bill asking that states monitor and report the number of children in the program who seek out doctors' help instead of going to emergency rooms for care. close
