Eric Holder testified about his nomination as attorney general. Among the topics he addressed were his involvement in pardons granted by President Clinton at the end of his presidency while Mr. Holder was assistant attorney general, past hiring practices by the Justice Department in the Bush administration, the independent operation of the Department of Justice and the future of prisoners at the Guantanamo Bay detention facility. He also said that he considered the use of waterboarding as an interrogation technique to be torture. The nominee was introduced by former Senator John Warner (R-VA) and Congressional Delegate Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC). close
