A panel discussion was held on gender issues for African-Americans. Crystal Lander began the session by defining “sexism,” "gender," “sex,” and “feminism” as used by panel members. Topics included historical fissures between African-American men and white women, equal pay for equal work, work-family balance, and daycare. Michelle Bernard moderated.

“Refresh Gender” was part of the “Refresh the World” Symposium presented by Spike Lee, Howard University, and PepsiCo in Cramton Auditorium of Howard University on Martin Luther King Day in celebration of the inauguration of Barack Obama. close
