Timothy Geithner testified about his nomination to be secretary of the treasury. Among the topics he addressed were the state of the economy, administration of the Troubled Assets Relief Program, strategies for economic stimulus, and discrepancies in some of his tax returns while he was employed by the International Monetary Fund. He was introduced by Senator Schumer and former Federal Reserve Chairman Paul Volcker. close
