Governor John Lynch announced his appointment of a Republican, J. Bonnie Newman, to fill New Hampshire’s seat in the U.S. Senate that would be vacated by Senator Judd Gregg upon his confirmation as the new secretary of the U.S. Department of Commerce. Ms. Newman agreed to serve only the remaining two years of Senator Gregg’s six-year Senate term.
