A hearing was held titled “Training and Equipping Afghan Security Forces: Unaccounted Weapons and Strategic Challenges.” Witnesses testified about U.S. training of Afghan security forces and readiness levels of police and national security units. They also addressed a report that indicated the American military has not properly tracked tens of thousands of weapons the Pentagon bought and shipped to Afghan security forces, leaving the arms at risk of being stolen or sold to militants. close
