Neel Desai StudentCam Contest Winner

Neel Desai talked about one of the middle school section third prize-winning videos, SBNN: Financial Crisis, that he produced with Riya Patel and Ronak Bhagat, fellow 8th-grade students at Frederick H. Tuttle Middle School in South Burlington, Vermont. He was interviewed via Skype video from the C-SPAN newsroom. He talked about the effect of the economic crisis on his friends and family. He is part of the student news team, South Burlington Network News (SBNN), which does a weekly news broadcast for his school.

C-SPAN Classroom’s StudentCam video documentary contest was a national competition in which middle and high school students produced a documentary exploring an issue of national significance that they believe is in need of urgent attention from the new president of the United States using some C-SPAN footage and covering multiple viewpoints. The local cable company was Comcast.
