Vice President Joe Biden announced the nomination of Seattle Police Chief R. Gil Kerlikowske as director of the Office of National Drug Control Policy. Mr. Kerlikowske, who has also served as chief of police in Buffalo, New York, and Fort Pierce and Port St. Lucie in Florida, was formerly the deputy director for the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Community Oriented Policing Services. He began his law enforcement career in 1972 as a police officer for the St. Petersburg Police in Florida. He also served in the U.S. Army Military Police. close
