Emilio Azcarraga moderated a panel discussion with child victims of violence.

Ishmael Beah, a former child soldier, is the author of the memoir, A Long Way Gone: Memoirs of a Boy Soldier. He fought in his native Sierra Leone for almost three years before being rescued by UNICEF. Francis Bok, is a native of Southern Sudan. At the age of seven, he was captured and enslaved during an Arab militia raid on the village of Nymlal on May 15, 1986. Lina Marcela Ortiz Restrepo is a 15-year-old victim of guerrilla violence in Colombia. She spoke through an interpreter.

“Children: The Most Innocent Victims of Conflict” was a session of the Reconciliation Forum. This was the first event of the Americas Business Council. It was held at the Inter-American Development Bank. close
