The Rebellion of Ronald Reagan
James Mann is the author of numerous books, including The China Fantasy and Rise of the Vulcans. He was formerly a reporter, foreign correspondent, and columnist for the Los Angeles Times. Mr. Mann is currently an author in residence at Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies.
James Mann talked about The Rebellion of Ronald Reagan: A History of the End of the Cold War (Viking Adult; March 5, 2009). In the book he presents a history of Ronald Reagan’s role in the ending of the Cold War. Mr. Mann examines previously undisclosed correspondences between Moscow and Washington, President Reagan’s arguments with former president Richard Nixon and Henry Kissinger regarding his diplomatic relations with Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev, and the Berlin Wall speech. Mr. Mann argues that the end of the Cold War was a complex series of events that were in and out of President Reagan’s control. Following his remarks he responded to questions from the audience.
