Department of Homeland Security, State Department, and Justice Department officials testified about the U.S. response to increased violence along the U.S.-Mexico border in response to efforts to curb Mexican drug cartels. They focused on efforts to deploy additional security personnel along the border and increase law enforcement operations directed at drug trafficking operations in the U.S. Several committee members were critical of the Obama administration for underfunding the efforts, while praising the goals of such programs. close
