Mia Bay talked about her book To Tell the Truth Freely: The Life of Ida B. Wells (Hill and Wang; February 17, 2009). In her book she recounts the life of journalist Ida B. Wells (1862 - "1931), a 19th century suffragist and civil rights activist. Ms. Bay talked about Ida B. Wells' appeal to the Tennessee Supreme Court after being removed from a seat on a train due to her race, her assistance in founding the NAACP in 1910, and her international campaign against lynching. The guest interviewer was Elsa Barkley Brown. close
