Witnesses testified about the use of federal financial aid by banks and financial institutions under the Troubled Assets Relief Program (TARP) and subsequent programs administered by the Treasury Department. In her remarks Ms. Warren said new legislation might be needed to give the House and Senate more access to details of the $700 billion rescue program and criticized Treasury Secretary Geithner for not making congressional consultation a “priority” and had given her “no articulation of what (the bailout) is supposed to accomplish.” close
