Finding Iris Chang Paula Kamen talked about her book Finding Iris Chang: Friendship, Ambition, and the Loss of an Extraordinary Mind (Da Capo Press; October 22, 2007; paperback December 8, 2008). She talked about her friendship with historian and journalist Iris Chang, the author of The Rape of Nanking: The Forgotten Holocaust of World War II. There were conspiracy theories when Ms. Chang committed suicide at the age of 36, due to mental illness, because of the facade Ms. Chang displayed. Ms. Kamen was interviewed at the 102nd annual meeting of the Organization of American Historians at the Washington Convention Center in Seattle. close
