Participants spoke to the press after the U.S. Supreme Court heard oral argument in the case of Ricci v. Destefano. The Court would decide if New Haven, Connecticut, city officials discriminated against white firefighters by throwing out a promotions exam that no African Americans and only two Hispanics passed. The firefighters argue that city officials violated Title VII of the Civil Rights Act by discriminating against them because of their race. After the case was heard Legal Times Supreme Court correspondent Tony Mauro was interviewed and attorneys for the firefighters and the NAACP talked with reporters on the steps of the Court.
