President Obama held his third presidential news conference marking his 100th day in office during prime time in the East Room of the White House. He began the press conference with a brief update on government efforts to monitor the H1N1 virus, or swine flu, outbreak in the U.S. and praised congressional passage of his budget blueprint. He then answered questions on a variety of topics including the use of torture and detainee treatment during the Bush administration, use of the State Secrets Act, foreign policy in Afghanistan and Pakistan, the state of the economy, abortion and immigration, and the challenges he had faced within the first 100 days. close
