Representative Brad Miller talked about House debate over the Mortgage Reform and Anti-Predatory Lending Act (HR 1728), and he responded to telephone calls and electronic mail. The aim of the bill is to limit lenders from steering buyers into mortgages they can’t readily afford, requires lenders to keep at least 5% of loans that they sell to others, give 90 days notice to tenants forced to leave foreclosed properties. Representatives Miller, Barney Frank, and Mel Watt are architects of the bill. close
