Securities and Exchange Commission Chairman Mary Schapiro spoke about regulation of the financial industry. In her remarks she said she supported a systemic risk regulatory model similar to one proposed by Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) Chairman Sheila Bair which would create a council of existing regulators. She also proposed that there be three separate regulatory groups responsible for banks, other financial institutions, and for troubled institutions. close
