Megan Scully talked about Defense Secretary Gates’s previous day announcement that he is replacing Army General David McKiernan, who led U.S. forces in Afghanistan for the last year, with Army Lieutenant General Stanley McChrystal. Lieutenant General McChrystal is a former commander of Joint Special Operations Command who has served as the director of the Joint Staff since August 2008. Ms. Scully also discussed debate in the House over the emergency supplemental spending bill for military operations in Afghanistan and Iraq, and she responded to telephone calls and electronic mail. close
