Jack McLean recounted his upbringing, including attending Phillips Andover Academy where he was a classmate of George W. Bush, and his decision to join the Marines and serve in the Vietnam War rather than attend college. Mr. McLean was the first Vietnam vet to attend Harvard University following the War and remarks on his service and the treatment he received upon his return from his tour of duty.

Jack McLean served in Vietnam with Charlie Company, 1st Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division. Mr. McLean is the author of Loon: A Marine Story, published by Presidio Press. He is currently the Tsien Writer in Residence in Fort Lee, New Jersey. close
