President Obama spoke to doctors about health care reform at a meeting of the American Medical Association in Chicago. He called the cost of health care a “ticking time bomb” that threatens to slow the nation’s economic recovery and urged the group to assist in efforts to reduce the costs of health care, embrace efforts to digitize medical records, and improve the quality of care. He also warned against the “fear tactics” being used by opponents of his proposal “to paint any effort to achieve reform as an attempt to socialize medicine.” close
