Canadian Question Period

Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper took questions from members in the last Question Period before the summer recess. Members focused on the economy with unemployment insurance and jobs being the dominant issues. Earlier in the week, the Conservative Party and the main opposition party, the Liberals, agreed to a deal that would preserve the Conservatives' minority government temporarily. The Liberals, at one point, threatened to bring the Conservatives' down in a confidence vote on supplementary budget estimates. close
