Marshall Phelps talked about the book he wrote with David Kline, Burning the Ships: Intellectual Property and the Transformation of Microsoft (Wiley; March 30, 2009). Marshall Phelps tells how he transformed Microsoft’s intellectual property (IP) strategy in the story of how Microsoft went from being besieged on all sides by anti-trust lawsuits to accommodating the demands of the public for “open innovation” and “open source” material. He responded to questions from members of the audience. close
