Authors talked about their books in conversation with Rick Kogan. Topics included why John Dillinger was remembered in history while the more famous Maxwell brothers were not. Issues included geography, the media, the effects of incarceration, and the social context of the lives of these men. They also responded to questions from members of the audience.

Elliot J. Gorn is the author of Dillinger’s Wild Ride: The Year That Made America’s Public Enemy Number One (Oxford University Press, USA; June 4, 2009). John Hallwas is the author of Dime Novel Desperadoes: The Notorious Maxwell Brothers (University of Illinois Press; July 16, 2008).
