Lawrence Summers made remarks on economic policy and Obama Administration efforts to rescue and rebuild the U.S. economy. In his remarks he said the $787 billion stimulus package was working despite rising U.S. unemployment and that stabilizing the economy must take precedence over tackling the deficit. He also said that health care and energy reform would lay the foundation for future prosperity. He also responded to a number of questions about the rising U.S. deficit and concerns that current financial rescue policies would spawn high inflation. close
