Doug Stanton talked about his book Horse Soldiers: The Extraordinary Story of a Band of U.S. Soldiers Who Rode to Victory in Afghanistan (Scribner (May 5, 2009). His book recounts the story of the U.S. Special Forces soldiers who fought the Taliban on horseback and achieved one of the early victories for the U.S. following the invasion of Afghanistan in 2001. He described the background political and cultural situation in Afghanistan. He also responded to questions from members of the audience at the luncheon hosted by the University Club of Chicago on July 10, 2009.
