He said that the first step was to be able to return samples from Mars to Earth, create a permanent lunar base, and to thoroughly survey the surface of Mars. Joe Cassady talked about his theory of a one-way mission to Mars. He said that this mission would put people on Mars without worrying about the difficulties of leaving the planet. Following his remarks, he answered questions from the audience.
