Steve Verdier talked about the emerging role of independent and community banks as a result of the current economy, and he responded to telephone calls and electronic communication. The Obama administration has proposed a new agency to regulate banks in the wake of the financial crisis, currently named the Consumer Financial Protection Agency. Mr. Verdier’s organization, the Independent Community Bankers Association, is not in favor of creating a new regulatory agency. close
