Dr. John Sverha talked about the medical services of the Virginia Hospital Center’s emergency room and its preparedness for medical emergencies such as the H1N1 swine flu virus, and he responded to telephone calls and electronic communications. Dr. Sverha joined the hospital in 1999 and has been chairman of the emergency medicine department at Virginia Hospital Center since January 2007. He also has been the lead in coordinating the hospital’s disaster preparedness activities.

This program was part one of the third day of a three-day “Washington Journal” series examining the health care system from the perspective of the hospital and its doctors and providing context to the health care debate currently before Congress. It aired from the Virginia Hospital Center’s emergency room in Arlington, Virginia. close
