Vice President Joe Biden delivered remarks on the progress of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act and overall state of the economy. Among the topics he addressed were allocation of the stimulus funds, the second 100 days of the Obama administration, economic indicators, and health care reform. In his remarks he said that the stimulus law was not a “single silver bullet” but rather “silver buckshot,” and tried to dispel the notion that the $787 billion stimulus bill was essentially a giant public works program. He noted that one of the stimulus law’s central goals was to bring relief to those who have been hardest hit in the recession. He responded to questions from the audience. close
