Witnesses testified about the Securities and Exchange Commission’s (SEC) failure to identify the Bernard Madoff Ponzi scheme and how to improve SEC performance. Mr. Kotz spoke about his report that said that over a period of 16 years, the SEC turned a blind eye on several major complaints against Mr. Madoff’s financial schemes, and that the SEC failed to stop Madoff’s Ponzi schemes due to a string of administrative mistakes. The report also said SEC staff did not collaborate with Madoff. close
