W. Ralph Eubanks talked about his book The House at the End of the Road: The Story of Three Generations of an Interracial Family in the American South (Smithsonian; May 19, 2009). This memoir/history of his bi-racial family focused on the forbidden marriage of his white grandfather and black grandmother in Alabama. He also talked about memoir-writing and his previous book Ever Is a Long Time: A Journey Into Mississippi’s Dark Past. He talked about his explorations of race and identity and read passages from his book. He also responded to questions from members of the audience.

This event of the Fall for the Book Festival was held at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 22, 2009, at the City of Fairfax Regional Library. It was sponsored by the Friends of the City of Fairfax Regional Library. close
