The Department of Transportation held a summit on reducing the growing safety risk that distracted driving is imposing on our nation’s roads. This was the second day of the summit.

Senators Mark Pryor and Bob Menendez made opening remarks and answered questions from members of the audience.

Panelists talked about regulation and enforcement of laws related to text messaging while driving. State legislators from Illinois, Arizona, and Oregon talked about distracted driver legislation efforts in their states. Other panelists included law enforcement officials from New York and Maryland. Following their remarks they responded to questions from audience members. close
