Nicholas Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn talked about their book Half the Sky: Turning Oppression into Opportunity for Women Worldwide (Knopf; September 8, 2009). In their book the husband and wife team profile women living in Africa and Asia who have overcome terrible odds to make lives for themselves. They talked about how they became involved in the subject, told examples of the stories they covered, and talked about the global economic implications and how progress is made. Slides were also shown. The authors were interviewed on stage by Lisa Belkin. They also responded to questions from members of the audience.
