Panelists reviewed the history and current regulatory structure of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and offered proposals for reform. Following their remarks they responded to questions from audience members.

Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were placed under federal conservatorship in September 2008 after the mortgage market implosion last year. This event looked at what changes might be made to the way the institutions operate in the future. Fannie and Freddie own or guarantee about half of the mortgages in the U.S. housing market. close
