The Joint Economic Committee heard a report on October 2009 employment figures from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). The unemployment rate rose to 10.2%, up from 9.8% the previous month and the highest employment rate since April of 1983. Keith Hall in his testimony talked about various job areas and their job loss statistics. He noted that the health care industry is one of the few areas were the number of jobs are increasing. close
