Following a showing of a new documentary called The Surge: The Untold Story, panelists talked about the 2007 surge in Iraq. Speakers included two U.S. commanders who were stationed in Iraq during the surge, and a New York Times correspondent who covered it. Among the topics they addressed were the possibility of a similar surge in Afghanistan. Liz Cheney, the daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney and a member of the Institute for the Study of War board, asked a question about the setting up of combat outposts in Iraq. close
