¡Obamanos! Hendrik Hertzberg talked about his book ¡Obamanos!: The Rise of a New Political Era (Penguin Press; October 29, 2009). The book, a collection of his “Talk of the Town” columns in The New Yorker and blog entries, presents an account of the 2008 presidential campaign. Mr. Hertzberg found the title of his book on a poster outside of Sante Fe, and argues that it embodies the changing demographics, attitudes and concerns of the electorate that put Barack Obama in the White House. Mr. Hertzberg also talked about the post-election political realities of the Obama administration. Other topics included the 20th anniversary that day of the fall of the Berlin Wall and the contribution made by President Carter as well as by President Reagan. He also talked about a national popular vote plan for electing presidents. He responded to questions from members of the audience. close
