Ariel Glucklichtalked about his book Dying for Heaven: Holy Pleasure and Suicide Bombers--Why the Best Qualities of Religion Are Also Its Most Dangerous (HarperOne; November 3, 2009). In his book the professor of religion and adviser to the U.S. defense community reveals the fallacy of our country’s three major assumptions about the motivations that lie behind terrorism. Professor Glucklich said that the greatest danger of religion is that it makes people happy by means of social integration, which could lead a person who does not feel integrated into any other recognizable group to do whatever the group requires.
