Negotiating with Iran
John W. Limbert was recently appointed Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Iran in the State Department’s Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs. Formerly a U.S. diplomat with long experience in Iran, Limbert was held hostage by the Tehran government for 14 months from 1979-1981, for which he won the Department of State’s highest award - the Distinguished Service Award - as well as the Award for Valor.
