David Crockett In Congress
James Boylston is the creator and moderator of the Alamo Studies online forum.
James Boylston and Allen Wiener talked about their book David Crockett in Congress: The Rise and Fall of the Poor Man’s Friend (Bright Sky Press; November 1, 2009). In their book they present an examination of the life of U.S. Representative David Crockett that goes beyond his days as Davy Crockett the frontiersman, arguing that he was also a master politician and an advocate for the poor. He represented Tennessee from 1827-1831 and 1833-1835 but was an unsuccessful candidate for reelection. They responded to questions from members of the audience.
