A hearing was held on the report of the Department of Defense Independent Review Relating to Fort Hood about the mass shooting on November 5, 2009. The co-chairs of the review group, retired Admiral Vernon Clark and former Secretary of Veterans Affairs and of the Army Togo West, Jr., testified about the events leading up to the shooting and the immediate aftermath, as well as how military bases could prevent future violence. Some senators complained that the report did not sufficiently address the role of radical Islam in the incident. close
