The National Commission on Fiscal Responsibility and Reform held its inaugural meeting in the White House Conference Center. The commissioners discussed the nation’s long-term fiscal challenges and organized themselves to formulate a bipartisan debt reduction plan. Additionally the commission heard from federal officials who spoke about the seriousness of the debt problem, potential changes to tax policy, and the likely impact of possible solutions. close
